The LG KU990 more often referred to as the LG Viewty is a multimedia phone in the true sense of the word – with brilliant looks and smart features. Launched towards the end of the year in 2007, the LG KU990 has done well for itself and for its manufactures, thanks to a great design and list of high-tech capabilities.
The phone’s more popular name Viewty comes from the fact of its high resolution in-built camera, a 5.1 MP auto-focus device with a state-of-the-art Xenon-flash, and its aesthetic appeal. One may find the looks of its contemporary, the LG Prada, similar to the LG KU990 and yet, the two phones are very different in their functionalities and features, the latter being more powerful.
The handset comes with a 3” LCD touch-sensitive display screen, and a camera mounted on the back of the phone. One can easily mistake the handset for a digital camera! Below the screen are call-function keys for menu navigation and access. The touch screen comes with a ‘touch feedback’ feature wherein the phone responds to the user’s touch with a slight vibration. A stylus is also provided with the handset.
A sleek black monolith, with a curved edge on one side, the LG KU990 Viewty is designed such so as to make it comfortable to hold the phone while taking a picture. The 100 MB memory is expandable up to 2 GB. In terms of browsing capabilities, the LG KU990 is a HSDPA friendly smartphone, with an achievable download speed of 3.6 Mbps. Webpages can be viewed on the landscape mode. The music player on the LG KU990 supports the MP3 and AAC formats.
